About us
Our mission:
Freedom Organix is a diversified, sustainable farm that uses all natural methods to produce quality food for our local communities while acting as a good steward of the land.

Our products:
We had just over 4 acres in production for the 2010 season producing vegetables, herbs and flowers for our CSA, farmers markets and restaurants. The support of our members will mean that we will have 6 acres in production for 2011. The balance of our acreage is part of a managed grazing program for our herd of registered Polled Herefords, pastured heritage hogs, pastured chicken, pastured flock of layers, turkeys, and our pet Sebastopol geese.

Our History
Freedom Organix is named after a favorite Thoroughbred horse who is retired here at the farm.  The farm sits on a rectangular tract of tillable land that is just shy of 20 acres.

The house and dairy barn that stand on the property today were built in 1943. The barn went up first and the family lived in the barn while the house was under construction.

In 1952 the farm was sold to a Chicago couple wanting to raise their family out in the country. They lived on the farm, raising their family and renting out their land to a neighbor who conventionally farmed the land for over 50 years.

When the farm was purchased and became Freedom Organix in 2005, the entire tract was planted in grass hay to protect the land from erosion and to give the land a rest.  In 2006 we started with just a small flock of free range chickens and each year we have continued to grow our production in both livestock and vegetables.
