We're Unique!
Freedom Organix is unique. We are one of the few CSA's that offer more than just vegetables. A lot more....eggs, poultry, pork, beef, all raised right here on our farm.

Raising livestock on our farm is a key component in making us sustainable. The animals help process nutrients and increase our soil fertility as nothing else can. The number of animals we raise is limited to only what our land can support, and you will notice the product quality this creates.

Livestock raised outside on pasture simply tastes better. We also know the entire history of our livestock, how they were cared for, and what they were fed because they have been in our constant care.

Want to know more about us?

Read our Newsletters.
Find out what's being born, what's growing, what we're doing, and what's making us happy here at the farm. As you explore finding a CSA you will find that the farm closely reflects the farmer's philosophy, viewpoints, likes and dislikes, and growing skills. They will each have their own style and personality. Get to know what we're about through our newsletters. We'll tell you what shows up in our boxes, our recipe ideas, and more!  Click here to read.

We are always happy to share our farm with our members. Seeing the care we take in raising our vegetables and our happy, healthy and content, livestock will help you to make a decision about what you feed yourself and your family and where it comes from. Farm Blog

April 2011

by Cynthia Nawiesniak on 04/14/11

It's a busy time here on the farm. We had the vet out to look at our herd this week. Dr. Zack confirmed that all but one of our cows will bear a calf this summer. A cow we call Busy that lost a calf early in her pregnancy has been successfully re-bred and is due in early December. She is one of our three milking cows and by having each of them give birth at a different time during the year keeps us in fresh milk all year round.

My best mouser and farm busybody (you know what I mean if you've visited the farm and met her) disappeared for close to a week. Last night while I was closing up the greenhouse Tinkerbell showed up out of nowhere. I was worried I'd never see here again and I'm glad she's back.

The auction this past weekend was productive as we acquired another small walk-in cooler. It will be nice to have a separate tomato room this season. I hoped to buy another tractor, but the bidding quickly went past my budget.

The warmer daytime and cool night time temperatures are making our Spring Share crops grow. All the cold we were having stalled them out....radishes we planted in the high tunnel in January were only about an inch tall. We seeded our tomatoes last week and have hundreds of tiny seedlings already up and growing. Six different kinds of summer squash went into cells today. Our greenhouse has exploded with transplants and we've moved thousands of seedlings outside to harden off before planting out in the field.
